Overview
The University of Leicester is investing £5.45m in 50 Doctoral Scholarships for entry in Autumn 2023, as part of its ambition to deliver on its strategic aim to ‘train the next generation of researchers to become world leaders in their fields’. The 11 scholarships will be distributed through the College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, which consists of nine schools: Archeology and Ancient History; Arts (covers English, History of Art and Film and Modern Languages); Business; criminology; Education; History, Politics and International Relations; Law; Media, Communication and Sociology; Museology.
Below you will find a list of 11 project proposals from supervisors across the College. It is possible to apply for up to two projects.

Funding
Students receive funding for 3.5 years:
- Tuition fees in UK degree
- Scholarships on UKRI degrees for 2023 will be confirmed in early 2023 (currently £17,668 for 2022 entry)
- Access to a Research Training Support Grant of up to £1,500 over 3 years.
International applicants must be able to fund the difference between UK and International fees for the duration of the study. Fees for projects on this page:
- Full international fees will be £16,200 per annum
- UK fees to be confirmed in early 2023 (currently £4,596 for 2022)
- International students should be able to pay around £11,500 for annual tuition.
- The exact fee will be stated at the point of offer.
