
The University of Alabama offers some of the most generous scholarship opportunities in the country for selective students. Complete the steps below to increase your scholarship and aid opportunities.
STEP 1: APPLY FOR ADMISSION AND SCHOLARSHIPS
As a freshman, you must submit the following to be admitted:
*The University of Alabama will not require standardized ACT or SAT scores from students applying for the fall semester of 2024. For more information, see UA’s Prerequisites page.
STEP 2: MAXIMIZE YOUR GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
Students who wish to register to increase their scholarship opportunities fall and summer semesters must submit an application and all supporting documents by January 15th, and spring semesters must submit an application and all supporting documents by November 1st.
If you enroll as a main campus student in the fall or summer semester and RSVP by January 15, you will be considered for competitive scholarships offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships, the National Alumni Association, academic colleges, and all departments. campus. All fall and summer semesters accept that those who RSVP by January 15th will be sent email instructions for completing the Freshman Supplemental Scholarship Application.
If you enroll as a main campus student in the spring semester and RSVP by November 1, you will be considered for competitive scholarships offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships.
2023 International UA Competitive Admission Scholarship
All students who submit an application and all supporting documents by the listed deadline are thoroughly evaluated based on the academic and non-academic information provided in their admission application. Academic components considered include high school GPA and academic honors. Non-academic items include leadership experience, volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, employment and non-academic awards.
This scholarship has value $6,000 up to tuition.

- Spring 2023: Students who submit the application and all supporting documents November 1
- Fall/Summer 2023: Students who submit the application and all supporting documents January 15
Notifications*
- Round 1: mid-December for students who have submitted their application and all supporting documents by October 15
- Round 2: Early February for students who have submitted their application and all supporting documents by November 30
- Round 3: In early March for students who have submitted their application and all supporting documents by January 15th

Deadlines
- Spring 2023: Students who submit an application and all supporting documents by December 15th, with an appropriate GPA and ACT or SAT score December 15
- Fall/Summer 2023: Students who submit an application and all supporting documents by May 1, with an appropriate GPA and qualifying exam score by December of their senior year February 2023
Notices
Accepted students will automatically receive one of these scholarships. Notifications are sent approximately 2 weeks after acceptance.
*Notices listed are for Fall and Summer 2023 semesters only. Because several factors go into a student’s competitive award, it will not be unusual for students who were accepted by an earlier date to receive a later notification. If you do not receive notification for an early round, your scholarship application will proceed to the third round for further review. All Spring Semester 2023 notifications will be released in mid-December.
THE PRESIDENTIAL ELITE
With the student a 4.0+ GPA and 36 ACT OR 1600 SAT The President will select and receive an Elite Fellow
- The cost of tuition for up to four years or eight semesters for degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate or law studies
- First year of on-campus housing at regular room rate (as determined by Housing and Residential Communities)
- An additional scholarship of $1,000 per year for four years
- A one-time stipend of $2,000 for use in summer research or international study (after completing one year of study at UA)
- $500 per year for Supe Store book scholarship for four years
If you are awarded a UA Competitive Admission Scholarship while also meeting the criteria for one or more Automatic Merit Scholarships, you will receive the highest percentage of scholarship offers.

- A Note About Test Scores: The optional writing section on the SAT or ACT is not required for admission or scholarship purposes. Only students who have taken the ACT or SAT before graduating from high school may be eligible for the above Automatic Merit Scholarships.
- A Note About Gap Years: Students who have taken a gap year between high school graduation and enrollment at the University of Alabama and have appropriate test scores and grade point averages may be awarded an automatic merit scholarship based on the amounts announced for the student’s immediate enrollment year. after graduating high school.
