Université de Montréal is introducing a new scholarship program for international students to waive additional tuition fees.

The goal of this new program is to help the world’s best talent attend one of the world’s best francophone research universities. In turn, these international students will help fulfill our educational mission by enriching the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.

The UdeM free scholarship program is designed to support international candidates in their university studies. From autumn 2020, they can benefit from the exemption from tuition fees normally charged to international students. Scholarships are available for Winter 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Winter 2023.


Who can benefit from this scholarship program?

International students admitted from Fall 2020:

  • Those with a study permit and who are neither permanent residents nor citizens of Canada.
  • Who will enroll full-time in a study program throughout their studies.
  • WHO won’t be benefit from another form of tuition waiver through another policy or measure. Francophone students from France and Belgium, for example, already benefit from such benefits.

How can I get this scholarship?

1. Apply for admission

Before filling out the application form, make sure you respect the application deadlines and check the admission requirements for the study programs you are interested in.

2. Track your file and receive an offer of admission

A few days after submitting your admission application, you will receive your Student Center access codes. This is the platform where you can track your application and receive your offer of acceptance letter.

3. Accept the offer of admission to start the assessment.

You do not have to apply for the UdeM Exceptional Scholarship. The documents of the new candidates will be evaluated to determine their eligibility and the amount of the exemption stipend.

4. Receive a notification with the amount of the award

After receiving your offer of admission, the Université de Montréal will immediately inform you by email of the amount of the scholarship to which you are entitled. Print this document and keep it in a safe place. It will be useful for future reference.
