Kuiper-Overpelt Education Foundation Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights program

The Kuiper-Overpelt Research Foundation is a scholarship program for talented students from developing countries who wish to pursue the Master’s Program in Advanced Studies in International Child Rights Law and who meet all the criteria for admission.

For whom

Master of Laws: Students who wish to follow the Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights program and meet the admission criteria.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of a country with a medium (113-151) or low (152-189) ranking on the HDI Index (see https://hdr.undp.org/data-center/country-insights#/ranks).
  • do not have the financial means to pursue a program of study without the aid of a scholarship.
  • Be highly motivated to follow the Master’s program in Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights Laws.

Obligations

The applicant must have a strong intention to return to their home country after completing their studies and apply the knowledge gained during the program in order to improve the implementation of international children’s rights in their home country. The applicant must be willing to sign a letter of intent for this purpose.

Exceptions

You cannot be awarded a Kuiper-Overpelt Education Foundation scholarship if:

  • you have already received another scholarship.
  • you will follow an educational program else Master’s program in Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights at Leiden University.

Scholarship amount

The amount of the scholarships is €25,000, which covers the full tuition fee of €19,300 and part of the recipient’s living expenses. The duration of the scholarship is one year.

Application process

  1. Submit an online application for admission to the Master of Laws: Advanced Studies in International Children’s Rights and pay the €100 application fee. Don’t forget to upload a valid English language test result in your application.
  2. In your online application, upload a motivation letter for the Kuiper-Overpelt Study Fund scholarship in which you briefly explain:
    • your financial situation and why you cannot follow the program without a scholarship.
    • your reasons for wanting to pursue a degree program.
  3. After submitting your online application, send an email to the program coordinator via ICRscholarships@law.leidenuniv.nl indicating your interest in the scholarship and attaching the scholarship motivation letter.

Selection process

Candidates for the scholarship are selected by the program’s Admissions Board and the scholarship’s private donors. Scholarship decisions will be announced in the first week of May 2023.
