Global Fellowship Program to Promote Research in Child and Youth Development

The Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program is a globally competitive fellowship program for early and mid-career researchers whose work is dedicated to the advancement of education. learning and development of children and youth around the world. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to, educational sciences, psychology, economics, sociology, behavioral sciences, computer sciences, pedagogy, linguistics, neuroscience, and learning sciences.

Aspiring scholars are especially encouraged to apply multilevel analysis and get busy interdisciplinary work. Special attention is paid to work understanding and accepting variability in learning; to promote the generation, transfer and practical application of evidence related to human learning and development or increase capacity to expand effective educational policies and practices.

The Jacobs Foundation is particularly interested in the following questions:

  • How do individual variations and contextual factors affect learning, development and training outcomes?
  • How can we design learner variation at scale to enable all children to reach their potential as learners and in life?
  • How can we create interventions that reduce growing inequalities in children’s learning and address inequalities in the effects of digital technologies?
  • How can we address the role of data in helping students and teachers make informed decisions about learning and teaching?

Fellowships are awarded to highly talented and innovative early and mid-career researchers. Over the past 10 years, Ph.Detc. Funding by Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowships is awarded directly to the fellow’s institution and can be used by the employee for three years to cover part of the salary and for any purpose to support the researcher’s research, such as the salaries of assistants. , equipment, technical assistance, professional travel or intern support.

The ideal companion not only has a great research idea, but also has significant potential as a researcher to contribute as part of interdisciplinary teams within and beyond the Jacobs Foundation network. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or equivalent over the past 10 years.
Funding amount CHF 150,000
Financing period 3 years
Number of annual scholarships until 12
Use of funds to pay employee wages Up to 50% of the grant amount
Financing of overhead / indirect costs Up to 10% of the total funding in addition to the main grant (i.e. CHF 15,000)
Additional funding Fellows can apply for additional funding at the end of the fellowship to pursue further projects with a focus on evidence-in-action and scientific capacity building.
Non-financial benefits In addition to providing retirees with independent and competitive financing, the program offers a wide range of non-financial benefits.

Ideal candidate
