First of all our condolences. A broken engine is anything but funny. If you’re looking for engine damage insurance, it probably means you’re not having much luck. Dealing with a burned out engine, or a burned out engine as some people call it, is difficult. Not only is there the hassle of no longer having your own transport, but depending on the problem, these things can also be expensive to fix.
So back to what’s on your mind right now… Does regular car insurance cover an unexpected engine failure and if not, how do you get insurance that covers an engine failure?
The short answer
With our Royal Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance, you are covered against accidental damage, theft and kidnapping and damage to someone else’s property (known in the insurance world as third party liability) as a result of a car accident in which you are a part.
We do it this way so that you always pay the right premium for the value of your car.
But in short, the answer is that our royal car insurance doesn’t cover you for an engine failure or mechanical breakdown.
The exception to the rule is that if your engine is damaged as a result of an accident involving you and your claim is accepted by us, we can pay for the cost of repairing your engine.
Ta-da! There is a royally real solution
We’ve made it really easy for you to upgrade your royal coverage with us by offering optional extras. These are products that come with a small additional premium but offer great security.
The King’s Car Guarantee offers 4 different types of coverage to determine your premium and is based on the value of your car. Click here to learn why the King’s car warranty could be the light at the end of the tunnel.
How to get insurance that covers engine damage
That’s right, as you have already noticed, in our kingdom we call this type of insurance “car warranty” and it ensures that broken car parts are repaired or replaced. This way, your car will be back on the road as quickly as possible without putting a strain on your wallet.
It’s not a maintenance or service plan, but it does add to the cost of repairing your car after a sudden and unforeseen mechanical or electrical failure. This includes the cost of the required labor and associated homework.
To claim the King’s car warranty you must:
- Own a car. It doesn’t have to be insured with us… or insured at all. It just has to exist.
- Be able to provide complete maintenance history of the car.
- Permanently reside in SA.
- Get a non-binding offer from us and accept it.
