We are a world-class department seeking PhD candidates interested in all areas of accounting with their own research proposal. You will have excellent quantitative and qualitative accounting skills.
Two of our priority areas of accounting research are:
- corporate governance
- sustainability practices and reporting
Entry requirements
You must have the following (or their international equivalents):
- strong research proposal
- a 2:1 undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
- Master of Science at merit level in relevant discipline
You must also give a satisfactory interview.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, you will need a minimum of 7.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with a score of 6.5 in writing, reading, speaking and listening.
The date of your awarded certificate must be within the last 2 years. If you are working on this test, we can still give you an offer. However, you must meet the above minimum level.

Payments and financing
Tuition fees will be paid and you will receive a tax-free stipend (living allowance) of £17,668 per year for up to 3 years.

- Choose a PhD in Business Studies and Management (full-time)
- Add the supervisor’s name, Dr Michalis Veliziotis, to section 2
- In the funding section, indicate the specific subject area you are applying for
Applications must include:
- Your PhD research degree proposal
- your CV detailing your academic record and research interests
- your academic transcript
- Details of 2 current academic referees, with their institutional email addresses
- a brief statement of your research interests
- IELTS or TOEFL certificate or proof that you are working towards it (if English is not your first language)
