Dalarna University Scholarships for International Students, 2023-24, Sweden

Every year, Dalarna University awards partial scholarships to a number of new international, fee-paying master’s students who have demonstrated excellence in their studies.

The amount of the scholarship

Our scholarships go directly towards reducing your tuition fees and will cover 10-50 percent of your total tuition fees. Your award is automatically deducted in set amounts each semester for the duration of your program.

Scholarships for new students

Tuition waivers are only available for studying a master’s degree program offered on campus. You only need to apply for your scholarship once, and you do so before the start of your program.

  • Applications for fall 2023 scholarships are now open. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 15.
  • Applications for scholarships for studies starting in January are open from September 1 to September 30.

Application process

A complete scholarship application consists of three parts:

  1. Online scholarship application
  2. CV/résumé (uploaded to your University Admissions account)
  3. A video explaining why you should get a scholarship

In a video (no longer than 60 seconds), you must explain why you should be awarded a Dalarna University scholarship. You must upload this video to the website or cloud storage for it to be viewed by the scholarship committee: include the video link in the scholarship application where indicated. We should be able to watch the video just using the link provided.

Do not email the video or send any documents directly to Dalarna University. All documents can be uploaded at UniversityAdmissions.se before or during the scholarship application period, which is separate from the application period for master’s degree studies.

You can use any device to create this video. If you are using a laptop with a webcam, then there are many websites that allow you to easily create videos.

You must ensure that you complete the online application form and upload the above documents by the above deadlines (ie 30 September or 15 March depending on the semester). If you do not submit all documents by the deadline, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be considered.

Selection process and scholarship decisions

The Office of Marketing and Communications, along with the Program Directors, will review your scholarship application and decide whether you will receive a scholarship.

In the selection process, we focus on your previous academic success, relevant work experience and motivation statement. We give preference to applicants who have listed Dalarna University as their first choice on universityadmissions.se and who are accepted in the first application phase. If you are awarded a scholarship, you must complete at least 20 credits in your program of study each semester to remain eligible for the scholarship.

Please note that there is no age limit for applicants to our partial scholarships and they are only open to fee-paying students.

We typically select between 3-6 applicants for partial tuition waivers in the spring semester and approximately 40-50 applicants for partial tuition waivers in the fall semester.

We make our decision on who will receive a partial scholarship on these dates:

Decision making date for the spring semester: November 1
Fall semester decision deadline: April 15
Please note that the decision date may vary (a week or more) depending on the number of applicants. After the decision date, you can contact us to inquire about the status of your scholarship award: study@du.se.
